support options

There are many different ways for you to access the support that suits you best.
From time to time, we will also be offering customized outdoor, indoor, and online grief support groups, special events, and collaborative community offerings to support you in your grief.
Stay tuned!

NOTE: Many insurance benefit plans cover the cost of the services of
Registered Social Workers in the province of Ontario.
** Please check with your insurance benefit provider to confirm whether you have coverage.**
In all cases, fees will be paid directly to Mourning Breaks, and receipts will be issued, following each session.

Individual IN-OFFICE Counselling Sessions

In-person indoor office appointments
$125/1 hour

In-person appointments are offered in warm, comfortable, private counselling office space in north central London, Ontario, at 333 Queens Avenue.

Health & Safety Note: While we recognize that masks are not mandated in public spaces at this time, please be aware that this is a mask-friendly practice. We are happy to wear KN95 masks during sessions for those who prefer this extra level of safety while meeting.

Individual ONLINE Counselling Sessions

Virtual video call appointments
$110/1 hour

Appointments will be offered using a private and secure clinical video call application. Clients must have a reliable internet connection, a device that supports video and sound capabilities, and a quiet, private space to meet for the length of time alloted for your appointment. Evenings by request.

Individual OUTDOOR "Walk & Talk" Counselling Sessions

In-person appointments held in public outdoor natural settings (weather-dependent, year-round)
$125/1 hour or $175/1.5 hours

Individual counselling sessions can be held while walking in local neighbourhoods, public pathways, or while seated on public benches or picnic tables (or bring your own lawn chair!) in local public parks. This option will be discussed in the initial intake session to determine individual preference, special considerations, and suitability.

Individual TELEPHONE Counselling Sessions

Grief support provided over the telephone
$110/hour or $55/.5 hour

This is an option for those who may not have the ability or means to attend an in-person or online video call appointment, or for those who simply prefer to talk over the phone. Evenings by request.

This is also an option for those who are attending regular in-person or video call sessions but would like the option of check-in calls between sessions on an as-needed basis. Note that this is NOT a crisis support option.

*************
I acknowledge that we are meeting on land that has been inhabited and cared for by Indigenous peoples for thousands of years. In particular, this region is the traditional territory of the Anishinaabeg, Haudenosaunee and the Ojibway/Chippewa peoples; land covered by the Upper Canada Treaties.
This recognition of the contributions and historic importance of Indigenous peoples must also be clearly and overtly connected to our collective commitment as non-Indigenous settlers on this land to make the promise and the challenge of Truth and Reconciliation real in our communities.

We have a responsibility to consider what it means to acknowledge the history and legacy of colonialism.
I invite you to read the Final Report of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada, and familiarize yourself with the 94 Calls to Action. I encourage you to learn more about the critical issues that face Indigenous communities today. While we gather here to hold space for grief, may we also keep in mind the grief carried in the hearts of Indigenous families in this region, and actively work to contribute to righting injustice wherever we have the capacity and means to do so.
